This game is really dark! Is something wrong?

Before starting a game, choose Options and use the "Check Brightness" gauge to determine if the TV brightness (not the game) needs to be adjusted.

Can I skip through any text or cinematic parts?

You can occasionally skip through some text by pressing the B Button, but generally not. The cinematic sequences can't be skipped at all.

When I play the Ocarina, the Great Fairy doesn't appear. Why?

You must earn the Spin Attack first. The Great Fairy will not appear at the other locations until the Spin Attack is found.

Can Link fight a boss again?

No. Note: Saving after defeating Ganondorf in the final area isn't possible.

Can I change the name of a save file?

No.

How do I get Epona the horse?

First, learn Epona's Song and become an adult. Go to Lon Lon Ranch, talk to Ingo and pay to ride a horse. Once inside the corral, play Epona's song and Epona will go to Link. Ride Epona until the time is up, then ride a second time. While on the horse the second time, talk to Ingo to be challenged to a race. Beat Ingo around the corral two times in a row to get the horse. To leave the ranch, ride quickly towards the fence Ingo is standing behind and go faster to make Epona jump over it.

I'm playing the right notes for a song, but it isn't working!

Be sure not to hold the Z Button, R Button or move the Control Stick, which alters the notes.

I press the Z Button to Z-Target, but when I let go the target is gone!

The Z-Target selection in Options is on the "Hold" setting. This means the Z Button has to be held to keep the lock on.

What do I do at those stones that tell the time when I hit it?

Gossip Stones, also called Sheikah Stones, serve many purposes. You can strike one with your Sword to tell the time, play the Song of Storms near one to find a Fairy, or talk to one while wearing the Mask of Truth to get information. For fun, try bombing one or using Din's Fire when near the stone.

How can I hold more Rupees?

Earn the Adult's Wallet or the Giant Wallet by collecting Gold Skulltulas.

How does Link switch between an adult and a child?

First, play through the game until Link becomes an adult. Return to the Temple of Time after beating the Forest Temple, then go into the back room behind the altar of Spiritual Stones. Go into the middle of the room and stand next to the small pedestal. If Link is an adult, drop the Master Sword back into the pedestal to become a kid. If Link is a kid, grab the Master Sword from the pedestal to become an adult.

What purpose do the arrows serve on the overworld map?

They indicate the next place Link must go while performing the Trading Sequence.

I lost some of my game progress. What happened?

You must manually choose to save your game. It does not save automatically.

I'm in a room and the door has bars on it. How do I open the door?

In some rooms, Link needs to defeat all the enemies in the room to unlock the door with bars on it. Some enemies, like Keese, can be hard to see so search all areas of the room and use Z-Targeting to find the enemies.

What is the difference between the gold Collector's Edition and the general release gray cartridge?

Besides the color of the cartridge housing and the box, there is no difference in game play between the two versions.

I've heard a lot of rumors about earning The Triforce. Is the Triforce in the game?

The Triforce is an important element of the game's plot, but it is not an item that Link can earn. On the Quest Status screen, there is a picture of the Triforce in the middle of the Spiritual Medallions. This picture is for decoration only, and cannot be filled in with the Triforce.

I've earned the Water Medallion, but Zora's Domain is still frozen. How do I unfreeze it?

It is impossible to unfreeze the water in Zora's Domain.

Is it possible to play as Sheik?

No.

Can I get to the room in Hyrule Castle where the pictures of Mario and Yoshi are hung?

No.

Is there a second quest? If  I type "Zelda" as my name, does it do anything?

There are plenty of optional objectives to complete during Link's adventure, but there is no second quest. Entering your name as Zelda does not alter the game in any way.

Are there any cheats or codes? If so, will Nintendo release them?

There are no known codes for the game, but there are tons of hidden things and secrets to discover.

Do you need a Controller Pak to save your game?

No, you can save up to three games in progress on the cartridge. You cannot save additional games with a Controller Pak.
